Recruiting Guidelines & Activities and Calendar of Events

There are many ways to engage with Carlson Undergraduate and Graduate students. The Carlson Business Development team will assist with planning virtual and in-person events that include Info Sessions, Coffee Chats (Office Hours), Mock Interviews and Tabling along with scheduling and supporting your On-Campus Interviews.

Because we use the Handshake recruiting platform, we encourage you to create a Handshake account so you can easily submit your event and interview requests.  This helps us promote your student activities more efficiently with your targeted audience.

Recruiting Activities

Exploring on-campus or virtual events provides an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with our students before making hiring decisions. Once you’ve decided on your preferred method of engaging with our students, kindly reach out to a Business Development Manager for assistance in coordinating timing and other details.

Information Sessions are a great way to present information on your organization, talk about available positions, review your recruiting process and meet potential candidates. Information sessions are held during the Fall and Spring semesters, often in conjunction with On-Campus Recruiting. We recommend scheduling an Info Session at least three to five weeks before interviews.

Office Hours are an opportunity to engage in more intentional 1:1 conversations with students who are interested in internship and full-time opportunities with your organization. These conversations can be virtual or in person at the Carlson Business Career Center.

Employers interested in hosting Carlson students at their office (or virtually) can provide an up-close view to their work environment and culture, and give students the opportunity to network with leadership, alumni and recent hires. Site Visits allow students to explore your industry and the career paths within your organization. Employers get the chance to meet students, learn about their interest in your organization and address questions in a more individualized setting.

Employer Site Visits typically last two hours and can include an employer presentation, discussion panel with employees in specific roles, company tour and time to network with key members of your team.

Tabling is a great way to engage with our students in a casual setting. All Tabling events are on-campus, Mondays through Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM during the academic year. Tabling Sessions are held in the lower level of the Carlson School of Management building next to the cafeteria to take full advantage of foot traffic.

Offer Policies and Guidelines

Because of the significance of the offer decision for both the employer and the student, the Carlson Business Career Center asks companies to follow these recruiting policies:

Recruiting Policies for MBA and MHRIR Students

Recruiting Policies for other Specialty Masters (Business Analytics, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Accountancy, Business Taxation)
